There is conviction, and then there is this. The Chiefs took Logan Fano a full 82 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, Burks at that price is a win they earned.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 9 they get a green-dot type in the middle. A real need, handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sonny Styles at No. 29 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kenyon Sadiq at Round 2, Pick 8 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Keionte Scott, who had no business lasting to the 74th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Somehow Deion Burks was still sitting there in pick No. 109, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Kaytron Allen at par in pick 148, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Nothing to complain about; Reggie Virgil went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Logan Fano in No. 176 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Diego Pavia this early at the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
