After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.

They will need Wiley to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Barton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.3 · Pick 3 · Drake Maye · QB · rank 7
In pick No. 3 they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 19
Quinyon Mitchell at No. 34 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 25
They let Amarius Mims come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 4. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 69
A big swing on Patrick Paul at the Round 2 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Roman Wilson · WR · rank 46
You do not let a wide receiver like Roman Wilson reach pick 67 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 26
Graham Barton in the 68th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 55
They will replay Xavier Worthy at the 78th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 95
Fair-plus on Khyree Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.3 · Pick 139 · Marist Liufau · LB · rank 164
Marist Liufau in pick 139 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R5.16 · Pick 152 · Jared Wiley · TE · rank 206
They reached into another round for Jared Wiley, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.2 · Pick 222 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 199
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Steele Chambers in the 222nd pick, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
