Green Bay Packers

The Packers went off-script early, and it cost them a F.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent the Round 4 slot on Trevin Wallace, a name the board had a full 123 spots lower.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher went begging. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.3 · Pick 35 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 27
Cooper DeJean in No. 35 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
Edgerrin Cooper at pick 41 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 61
Kingsley Suamataia at the 50th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Ricky Pearsall · WR · rank 59
Ricky Pearsall in Round 2, Pick 21 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 104
They reached into another round for Cole Bishop, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 129
Ben Sinnott in the 88th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Hunter Nourzad · C · rank 158
They reached a country mile for Hunter Nourzad at slot 91, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 234
A want over a need in Round 4, Pick 11: Trevin Wallace adds a linebacker while edge rusher keeps waiting.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 115
Nice patience on Elijah Jones, who had no business lasting to No. 126. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 173
They paid sticker price for Jordan Travis in pick No. 169, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Logan Lee · DL · rank 212
A premium they did not need to pay, Logan Lee a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Rasheen Ali · RB · rank 207
A slide stopped in pick 219, with Rasheen Ali worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Omar Brown · S · rank 285
A real head-scratcher, Omar Brown in the 245th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Aaron Casey · LB · rank 287
This one needs a full-page explanation: Aaron Casey in the Round 7 slot, miles early. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
