The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Browns watched Logan Jones slide 19 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Shelton has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Browns clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Emmanuel Pregnon, who had no business lasting to the 52nd overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick No. 59 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Omar Cooper Jr. in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Drew Shelton well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Logan Jones at pick 107 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Eli Raridon slid further than he should have, and No. 141 is lovely value for the tight end. It fills a real need, too.
Drew Allar at the 146th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kage Casey in pick No. 149 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Rayshaun Benny at slot 150 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
