Nobody had Sam Hartman this high, and it is not close. The Packers reached 43 spots to get him at the 210th overall pick.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. However the rest shakes out, Goncalves at that price is a win they earned.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 23
In pick No. 22 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 39
They paid sticker price for Payton Wilson in the 41st overall pick, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 62
No edge and no loss on Jaden Hicks in slot 58; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Brandon Coleman · OL · rank 103
Brandon Coleman at Round 4, Pick 2 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.14 · Pick 114 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 123
They liked Jarrian Jones enough to skip the value, taking him in the 114th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Jalyx Hunt · DE-EDGE · rank 128
Jalyx Hunt in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.18 · Pick 118 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 138
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Isaac Guerendo well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Matt Goncalves · OT · rank 106
Circle this one: Matt Goncalves at the 126th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.17 · Pick 153 · James Williams · LB · rank 173
They left a pile of value on the table to take James Williams this early at slot 153. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 253
Sam Hartman at the 210th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 230
They went early on Trey Taylor in No. 219, and the value did not follow. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.15 · Pick 235 · Eyabi Okie-Anoma · DL-EDGE · rank 235
No drama and no debate, Eyabi Okie-Anoma went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Tyler Owens · S · rank 247
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Owens at Round 7, Pick 25, value and slot in agreement. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jacob Monk · OT · rank 236
Jacob Monk at pick No. 255 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
