There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Eric Gentry, 114 picks ahead of schedule. No fireworks, but a solid B.
However the rest shakes out, Haulcy at that price is a win they earned. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Christian Darrisaw gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 18th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
In pick No. 30 they get an anchor for the offensive line, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Max Iheanachor at par in slot 45, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Markel Bell in the Round 2 slot, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Jake Slaughter was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 11, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Mike Washington Jr. in the 87th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Taking Eli Stowers in the 90th pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 94, where Elijah Sarratt graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled A.J. Haulcy all the way to slot 97, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Eli Raridon at the 131st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Drew Allar went about where he belonged in No. 151. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Lander Barton in pick 227 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Eric Gentry at Round 7, Pick 22 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
