They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Bryce Boettcher, 31 picks early at the Round 5 slot.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That Howell pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a featured back. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nice patience on Cashius Howell, who had no business lasting to the 35th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Germie Bernard in No. 66. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Malik Muhammad in slot 101 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Parker Brailsford slid further than he should have, and pick 142 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bryce Boettcher. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
