For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Vikings walked out of the weekend still thin at quarterback, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Washington Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The Reed-Adams reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The back end got a real overhaul.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 18th pick they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
No drama and no debate, Jacob Rodriguez went about where he belonged in the 49th overall pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Mike Washington Jr. slipping to pick 82 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A premium they did not need to pay, Bud Clark a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid a round early for Ar'maj Reed-Adams in No. 163, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
