Start where it matters. The Commanders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Coleman. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
Jayden Daniels at No. 2 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Morgan went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 40 with a little surplus value in Ennis Rakestraw Jr.. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on Javon Bullard in slot 67, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A straight-up fair deal on Jermaine Burton at Round 3, Pick 14, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Andru Phillips in the 100th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Brandon Coleman in pick No. 139, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Erick All in the 152nd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
