When a board-topper like Kendall Milton slides to pick No. 255, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Reaching for Nugent left real value on the table behind him. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
Spending an early pick on safety with wide receiver, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A premium they did not need to pay, Edgerrin Cooper a notch or two before his time. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Adisa Isaac at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the 89th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They did well to land Dominick Puni in slot 91, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A surprising call. With wide receiver, tight end and other spots still to address, they spent the 92nd overall pick on Jaden Hicks, a safety they were not short of.
Christian Mahogany at pick 94 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Roger Rosengarten this early at No. 95. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Isaac Guerendo in Round 4, Pick 26; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They bypassed pressing needs at wide receiver, tight end and other spots to take Marist Liufau, a linebacker that was not the priority.
A big swing on Drake Nugent at the 169th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
They reached into another round for Garret Greenfield, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Good price on Steele Chambers in pick No. 202, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
The board fumbled Johnny Dixon all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kalen DeLoach. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Austin Reed at slot 245 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Jalen Sundell in pick 246, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Kendall Milton at slot 255 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
