The David Walker pick is the one that will follow the Commanders into the fall. They took him 103 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
Landing Edwards that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy bit of business in the 29th pick, where Nick Emmanwori graded well above the range. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Value said wait; David Walker in the 61st overall pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach on Ozzy Trapilo in pick 79; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jaylin Noel in Round 5, Pick 9 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let a running back like Ja'Quinden Jackson reach slot 207 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
They robbed the room for Donovan Edwards here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid up for Nick Martin at the 250th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
