Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Commanders spent pick 148 on Que Robinson, a name most had 99 spots down the list.
They banked enough surplus on Collins to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an enforcer at safety, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Fair-plus on TreVeyon Henderson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Alfred Collins in pick 79, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A wild overpay on Que Robinson in the 148th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Miles Frazier this early at Round 6, Pick 29. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Thor Griffith in No. 238 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
They paid a round early for Nick Martin in the 250th overall pick, more than the board wanted. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
