There is a lot to like until you notice edge rusher is still a hole. The Dolphins never got to the one that mattered most.
The Roberts pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Reaching for Daniels left real value on the table behind him. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Emery Jones at the 29th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Luke Lachey at Round 2, Pick 29, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Jaeden Roberts worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 125 with a little surplus value in Dasan McCullough. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They did well to land Raheim Sanders in slot 140, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Thor Griffith in the 157th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Jalon Daniels at pick 201 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Will Sheppard at pick No. 221 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
