After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The McGlothern pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Fisher pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Adonai Mitchell at pick 34 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Roman Wilson in pick No. 47 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Wright. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They went early on Blake Fisher in Round 4, Pick 3, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Christian Jones in the 137th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Dwight McGlothern in No. 180, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Myles Cole at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Trevin Wallace in pick No. 231 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
