The Dolphins did not so much draft Andrew Raym as overpay for him, 55 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Dixon falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Troy Fautanu in pick No. 21 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
You do not let a wide receiver like Johnny Wilson reach the 158th pick and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Andrew Raym well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for LaDarius Henderson. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Johnny Dixon in pick 241, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
