The Cowboys bet big and early on Kedon Slovis, 90 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Lovett. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Pick-by-Pick
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Amarius Mims in the 46th pick, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They went early on Xavier Worthy in No. 56, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Trey Benson at pick 94 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, McKinnley Jackson well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Hunter Nourzad at Round 4, Pick 33 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nehemiah Pritchett at slot 174 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Jordan Jefferson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kedon Slovis in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at pick 216 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
JD Bertrand at slot 233 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay JD Bertrand at pick No. 244 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
