The one they had to fix is still broken. The Cowboys left quarterback untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
However the rest shakes out, Rivers at that price is a win they earned. They are betting Fisher proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a bell-cow for the offense, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Devin Moore in the 92nd pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They read the board right and Chandler Rivers was the payoff at slot 112. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Isaiah World in pick 152. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr in pick No. 177 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Jeff Caldwell went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 40. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They liked Aiden Fisher enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 218. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
