The Eagles spent real capital to be 55 picks early on Aaron Lewis, and the board is going to hold them to it.
On value alone, Walker makes the weekend a net positive. It is not that Knight is a bad player; it is that the Eagles had louder needs to answer first.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a No. 1 receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kamari Lassiter at pick 54 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They read the board right and Calen Bullock was the payoff at the Round 2 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had Junior Colson higher than the 89th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Somehow Blake Corum was still sitting there in pick No. 97, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They will replay Devontez Walker at No. 98 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Mike Sainristil still on the board at pick No. 103. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Tyrice Knight adds a linebacker and leaves tight end untouched.
Blake Fisher at the 137th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Drake Nugent in the 163rd pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach on Eric Watts in No. 172; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A running back of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Joe Milton III in slot 182, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Taking Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick 195 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A quiet steal in the Round 6 slot: Andrew Raym for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Frank Gore Jr. in Round 6, Pick 38 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a safety like Jalen Green reach the 232nd overall pick and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
They paid up for Zion Logue at pick 239 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached into another round for Aaron Lewis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
