The Ben Sinnott selection is the head-turner. The Commanders reached 57 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Murphy pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Olumuyiwa Fashanu at the 7th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at No. 36 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid up for Cooper Beebe at Round 2, Pick 7 when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Amarius Mims in slot 71, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jalen McMillan in pick 100 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Ben Sinnott in the 107th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Mike Sainristil in No. 144 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Circle this one: Gabriel Murphy at the 185th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Payton Wilson. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
