Washington Commanders

Daniels is the plan now, and the Commanders grade out a B.

Future B-

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. No fireworks, but a solid B.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They are betting Jackson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 6
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
R1.27 · Pick 27 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 29
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 37
They took Jordan Morgan at par in No. 35, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 47
Cooper Beebe at pick 36 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 44
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chris Braswell. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 95
Value said wait; Khyree Jackson in the 67th pick says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Cam Hart · CB · rank 100
Cam Hart at the 78th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 125
Johnny Wilson at pick No. 100 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 122
Theo Johnson in slot 104 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.3 · Pick 139 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 128
Isaac Guerendo is a better player than Round 5, Pick 3 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.16 · Pick 152 · Jalyx Hunt · DE-EDGE · rank 152
By-the-book stuff, Jalyx Hunt at pick 152 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.2 · Pick 222 · JD Bertrand · LB · rank 220
JD Bertrand in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
