There is conviction, and then there is this. The Packers took Marvin Jones Jr. a full 81 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Stribling falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A quiet steal in No. 52: Anthony Hill Jr. for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good price on Daylen Everette in slot 86, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had De'Zhaun Stribling higher than Round 4, Pick 26, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Zxavian Harris in the 160th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Cole Payton at pick 201 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
TJ Hall in the 220th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They read the board right and John Michael Gyllenborg was the payoff at No. 236. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
