Start where it matters. The Commanders took Michael Penix Jr. to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

In the 9th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Michael Penix Jr. at par in the 10th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
In pick 13 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
