They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jasheen Davis, 117 picks early at the 238th overall pick.
Strong falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Aireontae Ersery at Round 2, Pick 6 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Kaleb Johnson in No. 69, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Steal is underselling it; Chris Paul Jr. at slot 103 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jared Wilson at pick No. 106 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dorian Strong in the 144th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Oronde Gadsden II in pick No. 217 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Carson Vinson at par in No. 220, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jasheen Davis in the 238th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
