There is reaching, and then there is Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 124th pick. The Cowboys jumped the board by 28 and dared it to prove them wrong.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kiran Amegadjie in the 56th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid a round early for Audric Estime in pick 87, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Value said wait; Edefuan Ulofoshio in slot 124 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Curtis Jacobs in No. 174 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Daequan Hardy went about where he belonged in the 212th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ja'Had Carter in pick 245 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor need, but a need all the same.
