Boards are made to be trusted, and the Packers shredded theirs for Aaron Frost. He came off 30 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Clark steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
It is not that Williams is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Chop Robinson in pick 41. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Edgerrin Cooper in slot 57 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Bucky Irving went about where he belonged in the 88th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A real head-scratcher, Max Melton in No. 91 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cole Bishop at Round 4, Pick 25 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, tight end and other spots to take James Williams, a safety that was not the priority.
A straight-up fair deal on Jawhar Jordan at Round 6, Pick 28, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A tidy bit of business in the 217th overall pick, where De'Corian Clark graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Aaron Frost at the 219th pick, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Wedig well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
