When a board-topper like Dylan Laube slides to the 219th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Reaching for Sinnott left real value on the table behind him. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Cooper DeJean at No. 25 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 41 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nice patience on Cooper Beebe, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Christian Mahogany in slot 88 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Ben Sinnott in Round 3, Pick 28 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid up for Roger Rosengarten at the 126th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and Kitan Oladapo was the payoff at pick 169. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jordan Magee in the 202nd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
You do not let a running back like Dylan Laube reach No. 219 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Caedan Wallace still on the board at pick No. 245. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A big swing on Austin Reed at the 255th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
