You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Eagles did exactly that with Jack Nelson in the 219th overall pick.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In No. 24 they get a security blanket over the middle. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for Jahdae Barron in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A slide stopped in pick No. 121, with Smael Mondon Jr. worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Zane Durant at pick 185 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jack Nelson at the 219th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
