Somebody in pick 241 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Dolphins sat still while Johnny Dixon, the No. 190 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Every board in the league had Robinson lower, and that gap is the story. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A premium they did not need to pay, Jordan Morgan a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Zach Frazier went about where he belonged in the 55th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Cooper Beebe at No. 61 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
Value said wait; Layden Robinson in pick 158 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Beau Brade at slot 164 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: Dwight McGlothern still on the board at pick No. 184. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A reach on Jaylen Harrell in Round 6, Pick 23; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A cornerback of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
