Green Bay Packers

The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Torrence: B.

by Blanep · 2024 NFL Draft · 12 picks · 4 steals · 5 reaches
Value B-
Need B

Future B

The rest of the league will want that one back. Ro Torrence tumbling to the Packers in slot 245 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Bortolini has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Bishop pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, tight end and other spots.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 27
In pick 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 52
A reach for Junior Colson in the 44th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R2.30 · Pick 62 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 42
Somehow Javon Bullard was still sitting there in slot 62, and they pounced on premier safety value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 88
Dominick Puni in No. 88 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 104
A surprising call. With wide receiver, tight end and other spots still to address, they spent Round 3, Pick 28 on Cole Bishop, a safety they were not short of.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 135
Roger Rosengarten at the Round 4 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 188
Tanor Bortolini in the 126th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
R5.29 · Pick 165 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 157
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 165, where Dylan Laube graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 163
A reasonable price with a little left over, Walter Rouse in pick 169. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Marcus Harris · DE-EDGE · rank 153
They robbed the room for Marcus Harris here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Ro Torrence · CB · rank 179
They barely believed it either: Ro Torrence still on the board at the Round 7 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Austin Reed · QB · rank 274
A real head-scratcher, Austin Reed in the 255th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
