Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Dolphins spent No. 198 on C.J. Hanson, a name the board had a full 66 spots lower. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
That Burton pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
The Patrick Ricard pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They reached a country mile for Sedrick Van Pran at slot 55, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A safety of that caliber at the 61st pick is the definition of value, full stop. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.

They will replay Chau Smith-Wade at the 164th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
A wild overpay on Keaton Bills in slot 184, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
A real head-scratcher, C.J. Hanson in the 198th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
LaDarius Henderson at pick 241 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
