There is reaching, and then there is Andrew Raym at the Round 6 slot. The Dolphins jumped the board by 55 and dared it to prove them wrong. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

On value alone, Johnson makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.21 · Pick 21 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
In the 21st overall pick they get juice off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.23 · Pick 55 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 56
A straight-up fair deal on Kingsley Suamataia at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · Layden Robinson · OG · rank 176
They talked themselves into Layden Robinson at pick No. 158, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.9 · Pick 184 · Andrew Raym · C · rank 239
Andrew Raym in pick 184 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.23 · Pick 198 · Keaton Bills · OG · rank 240
This one needs a full-page explanation: Keaton Bills in Round 6, Pick 23, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.21 · Pick 241 · Cornelius Johnson · WR · rank 189
Cornelius Johnson at slot 241 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
