Some picks age like wine; Trey Moore at the 70th overall pick will need to, sitting 114 spots clear of his grade.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Bernard. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. Need was not the driver here.
In No. 24 they get a blindside protector, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy little value on Brandon Cisse in pick 39, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Trey Moore at the 70th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Germie Bernard at Round 4, Pick 7 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Marlin Klein in pick No. 146 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A big swing on Aaron Anderson at the 149th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Keagen Trost at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nice patience on Zavion Thomas, who had no business lasting to No. 248. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
