Nobody else had Keylan Rutledge anywhere near the 23rd overall pick. The Eagles did, by 56 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd overall pick they get a building block for the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Eli Stowers in slot 54 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
A wild overpay on Taurean York in the 68th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A big swing on Julian Neal at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 114, where Brenen Thompson graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Nicholas Singleton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Tyreak Sapp in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tyler Onyedim slid further than he should have, and the 178th overall pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Kage Casey in pick No. 197 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
