The Panthers torched the value chart for Lander Barton, taking him 83 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.
However the rest shakes out, Moore at that price is a win they earned. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th pick they get a long-term starter on the line, though the board says they badly overpaid.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 51 with a little surplus value in D'Angelo Ponds. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Malik Muhammad at the Round 3 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A wild overpay on Reggie Virgil in pick 119, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They talked themselves into Aiden Fisher at Round 5, Pick 18, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Lander Barton. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A safety of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 19 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
