The Chargers bet big and early on Jawhar Jordan, 73 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Frazier.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a home-run threat at receiver, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Fair-plus on Edgerrin Cooper, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Jermaine Burton at No. 70 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on Zach Frazier, who had no business lasting to pick No. 106. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had Theo Wease higher than pick 143, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Jack Nelson in slot 184, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
A big swing on Jawhar Jordan at pick No. 227, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
