The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Eagles watched Devontez Walker slide 51 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
The Keegan reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a true top target, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
They will replay Kamari Lassiter at the Round 2 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They read the board right and Calen Bullock was the payoff at No. 58. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A slide stopped in the 89th overall pick, with Junior Colson worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They barely believed it either: Devontez Walker still on the board at Round 3, Pick 34. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Blake Corum in pick No. 98 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They liked Mohamed Kamara enough to skip the value, taking him in the 103rd pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value with a capital V on Blake Fisher in slot 114, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nice patience on Theo Johnson, who had no business lasting to the 163rd pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Nehemiah Pritchett all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Braelon Allen in slot 177 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
You do not let an offensive lineman like LaDarius Henderson reach pick No. 182 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Trevor Keegan at pick 195 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Somehow Jaylan Ford was still sitting there in No. 204, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jared Wiley at Round 6, Pick 38. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They did well to land Zakhari Franklin in the 232nd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Kingsley Eguakun graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Taulia Tagovailoa in pick No. 243. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
