The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on Michael Penix Jr., and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Haynes has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Michael Penix Jr. at No. 6, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No edge and no loss on Darius Robinson in slot 39; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had cheaper options than Christian Haynes at pick 47, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Ja'Lynn Polk at the 70th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good price on MarShawn Lloyd in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reach on Jarrian Jones in pick No. 140; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid up for Elijah Jones at Round 6, Pick 10 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
