Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Isaiah Jatta at the 216th pick is 28 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Dillon Thieneman in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Germie Bernard at par in pick No. 53, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy little value on Keionte Scott in No. 67, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Eli Stowers was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 12, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They let Elijah Sarratt come to them and pounced at slot 85. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Keylan Rutledge, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Fair-plus on Drew Allar, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Isaiah Jatta at Round 6, Pick 35 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Keyshaun Elliott in pick No. 224 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
