The Commanders looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Donovan Ezeiruaku at Round 1, Pick 29 regardless, 43 picks early. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
Marks at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Xavier Restrepo in No. 61; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A real head-scratcher, Hollin Pierce in pick No. 79 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Cody Simon was the payoff at slot 148. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Nice patience on Woody Marks, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 29. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jaishawn Barham in the 238th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They reached a country mile for Nohl Williams at pick 250, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
