When the story of this class is written, it opens with Tyreak Sapp at the Round 3 slot, a reach of 66 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The Hurst pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a premier pass rusher, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy little value on Gennings Dunker in pick No. 54, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A wild overpay on Tyreak Sapp in the 68th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Zakee Wheatley at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ted Hurst at pick 114 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Charles Demmings in No. 137 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Isaiah World at pick 153 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Dae'Quan Wright at the 178th pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Taylen Green at Round 6, Pick 16. It fills a real need, too.
