Thirty-one other rooms let Dwight McGlothern slide, and the Dolphins were the ones holding the card at pick No. 184. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Limmer reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
A reach for Bralen Trice in pick No. 55; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A real head-scratcher, Beaux Limmer in slot 108 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
They went early on Trevor Keegan in the 129th pick, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A wild overpay on Layden Robinson in Round 5, Pick 21, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at pick 158 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Dwight McGlothern at the 184th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They liked Evan Williams enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 198. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No edge and no loss on Josh Proctor in the 241st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
