Nobody else had Baylor Cupp anywhere near pick No. 246. The Packers did, by 130 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Simpson. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kamari Lassiter at pick No. 41 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Bralen Trice here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Chris Braswell at No. 88 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Payton Wilson at Round 3, Pick 28 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Javon Foster at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Frank Gore Jr. in the Round 4 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Jaylin Simpson all the way to pick No. 203, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy little value on Jalen Green in Round 6, Pick 42, a step better than break-even. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Chad Lindberg. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A real head-scratcher, Baylor Cupp in the 246th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
