You could see the war room lean forward. TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 106 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They will need Harrell to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a true top target, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Troy Franklin in the 38th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: TreVeyon Henderson at pick 106 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A quiet steal in the Round 5 slot: James Williams for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jason Marshall Jr. in pick No. 155 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Michael Barrett at the 184th pick, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They paid sticker price for Kaimon Rucker in Round 7, Pick 1, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyler Harrell this early at slot 227. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
