After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Every board in the league had Paul lower, and that gap is the story. The Devonshire steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
They reached a country mile for Patrick Paul at slot 36, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jordan Morgan in pick No. 40 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Bralen Trice in the 67th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Cam Hart at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Theo Johnson. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jalyx Hunt at the 139th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
Dylan Laube at pick 165 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Circle this one: M.J. Devonshire at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Steele Chambers all the way to the 222nd pick, and they scooped it up. It adds depth where they could use a little.
