There is reaching, and then there is Matthew Jones at No. 241. The Dolphins jumped the board by 30 and dared it to prove them wrong.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 2 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Ricky Pearsall in Round 2, Pick 23; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
James Williams at No. 128 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
