Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jowon Briggs at the Round 6 slot is 54 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. No fireworks, but a solid B.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Getting Jones where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 21 they get juice off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Patrick Paul at pick No. 63 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They took Christian Mahogany at par in No. 96, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at Round 5, Pick 17 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Tykee Smith went about where he belonged in the 158th pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
No edge and no loss on Layden Robinson in the 174th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Delmar Glaze at pick 184 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Gabe Hall at slot 198, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jowon Briggs in Round 6, Pick 40 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value with a capital V on Julian Pearl in the 216th pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Sheridan Jones at No. 241 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
