The one they had to fix is still broken. The Cowboys left wide receiver untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
If Hardy pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper at pick 56 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy little value on Mike Sainristil in pick No. 87, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Justin Eboigbe. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid up for Michael Barrett at slot 174 when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach on Daequan Hardy in the 212th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Xavier Thomas in No. 245 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
