The Keaton Bills pick is the one that will follow the Dolphins into the fall. They took him 42 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Getting Thomas where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Zach Frazier went about where he belonged in slot 55. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They did well to land Tyrone Tracy Jr. in Round 5, Pick 22, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Julian Pearl well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They reached a country mile for Keaton Bills at pick 198, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nathan Thomas is a better player than the 241st pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
