Green Bay Packers

The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Jones: B-.

The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Jarrian Jones, the No. 149 name on the board, sitting there at No. 204 like a gift left on the doorstep.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Bishop has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Terrion Arnold · CB · rank 24
By-the-book stuff, Terrion Arnold at No. 25 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 26
Troy Fautanu is a better player than pick 41 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Max Melton · CB · rank 63
They paid sticker price for Max Melton in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 110
Cole Bishop at the 88th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 96
Trey Benson at pick No. 91 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 97
Brenden Rice at Round 4, Pick 27 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 164
Isaiah Davis at the 168th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 149
Jarrian Jones in slot 204 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 236
Trevin Wallace in No. 216 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Rasheen Ali · RB · rank 226
They let Rasheen Ali come to them and pounced at pick No. 243. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Brevyn Spann-Ford · TE · rank 239
Brevyn Spann-Ford at Round 7, Pick 31 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
