Start where it matters. The Commanders took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Mahogany pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Latham at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
In slot 23 they get a cornerstone up front at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Chris Braswell in the 36th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Christian Mahogany in No. 68 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach on Blake Fisher in Round 4, Pick 4; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Isaiah Adams in pick 141; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They liked Layden Robinson enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Reuben Fatheree II at the 225th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
